Basco touches lives for good

Few corporate would consider engaging in a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme that sets out to empower its participants and empower them in the long term as opposed to short term. This was the thinking behind the Duracoat Expert Training Centre that was launched in May 2010 by Basco Products (K) Ltd, more popularly known as Basco Paints.

Not only is Basco Paints the leading paint company but is also widely known for its high quality paints whose performance is unmatched in the region. This has earned Basco Paints the reputation of an expert in the Paint Industry, as illustrated by the tagline; “Ask the experts” It is however not enough to be experts but to also equip users of a product and equally make them experts.

What better way to touch the lives of people than training them in skills that can be used to earn a living. The Duracoat Expert Training Centre was thus conceived in order to turn the students who are drawn from all odds of life ranging from: individuals who have not painted before, painters, freelancers, fresh form 4 leavers, artists, sign writers, interior designers, employees of corporate organizations and even architects into expert painters.

The comprehensive course that is held free of charge to participants engages them in theory and practical training on paint and painting. The academy has attracted a number of female students thus dispelling the myth that painting is a job for men only. Qualification to become an expert painter is quite stringent and the experts that graduate from this class attest to this fact.

Students are provided with uniforms (an attractive Basco overall), hot meals, and a certificate at the end of the course. After the extensive training, all students sit for exams consisting again of theory and practical. Upon evaluation of the exams, only those with above the pass mark of 65% are awarded with a certificate.

We continue to receive positive feedback from the sites and institutions where our expert painters are working in. The commendations include that the Duracoat Expert Painters have increased knowledge, competency, reduced error, ability to advice clients and have high performance standards.

In conclusion the graduates themselves have their lives changed by the skills that set them above from the ordinary painters. Equipped with expert knowledge, an attractive branded overall, several skills and techniques that other painters do not have, the joyous graduates leave Basco Paints to face a new dawn in their lives. No doubt our graduates will continue to fly the Duracoat Expert flag high for years to come.
